FDS-TSG Twin Screw Gearbox
Key Benefits:
Speed & Flow Range – A TSG can handle a speed range of 1:30, whereas typical motor/VFD combinations are 1:10. Opening up the flow-rate range to its full potential.
Decreasing Motor Size – On average, a motor which is 1 or 2 sizes smaller is sufficient when an FDS has a TSG – Twin Speed Gearbox optimization. Reducing both initial expense on the motor and long-term running costs.
Increasing Efficiency – The drive trains efficiency is increased by 10-20% as the TSG moves the operational point to the highest efficiency area.
Sustainable pumping solution – Significant reduction to energy use, helping customers reduce with environmental impact.
The Ideal Application:
A customer wants to gently pump small amounts of highly viscous product (such as creams, pastes, sauces etc…), then switch to pumping high volumes of CIP, very quickly with the same pump. With a standard FDS, this is no problem – however, with a TSG – twin speed gearbox, efficiency can be improved as a smaller motor can be selected.
Sample application:
Mayonnaise and CIP – two very different mediums which an FDS is capable of pumping with equal success.
However, to alternate between pumping such different mediums the pump would need a fairly large motor and in this case, the customer also required a forced ventilation system. However – with the TSG – neither are necessary!
With the addition of the TSG, the customer can alternate between ‘product mode’ and ‘CIP mode’, just like changing gears on a bike – the shift in the gearbox moves the gear ratio from 1:0.5 for product pumping and 1:1.5 for faster CIP pumping.
